The Ruger Redhawk revolver, introduced in 1979, was, in the words of Ruger promotional materials, "an entirely new firearm, representing the most significant advance in the development of heavy-frame double action revolvers in many decades." Taking many of its cues from the successful Security-Six, the Redhawk was built to withstand the pressures generated by full-power .44 Magnum loads, and has certainly gained a passionate following from handloaders, who realized it’s beefed-up, one-piece frame can handle the hottest loads they’d be willing to make. Handgun hunters, too, flocked to the Redhawk, with its ability to hold six game-stopping .44 Magnum rounds, capable of dropping even large North American game. Learn more about it in the video embedded above, hosted by Managing Editor Jon Draper. MSRP: $1,079; ruger.com.
