Leica Sport Optics has unveiled its first thermal imaging camera designed specifically for hunters: the Calonox. Available in two versions, the Calanox comes as either a purely hand-held observation device—the "View"—or as a mounted device for a riflescopethe "Sight."

Thanks to the Calonox’s large sensor and high-resolution (1024x768) OLED display, both optics offer the highest observation quality, paired with a three-button interface that is both user-friendly and ergonomic. As previously mentioned, the "Sight" version of the Calonox can be used in conjunction with a conventional riflescope, and thus only comes equipped with 1X magnification. The "View," however, designed for standalone use, boasts a 2.5X optical magnification with a 640x480 pixel sensor. Both models feature 42mm lenses, and weigh a mere 17 ounces. A permanently installed rechargeable battery with a minimum operating time of six hours serves as the power supply.

Both Calonox models have an MSRP of $3,999, and will be available for purchase in late summer 2020. For more information on these handy low-light scouting tools, visit leicasportoptics.com.
