The "Throwback Thursday" fad on social media is so often overdone. We get it: You used to have hair. Your spouse wasn't always gray. Your 10-year old was originally a baby.

But, every once in a while, someone comes through with something worth sharing. A decades-old photo of friends with a limit of ducks. An aged dog back in his prime clutching a pheasant. Or, in the case of Beretta, a vintage shotgun. Check out this "Beretta Style" Throwback Thursday:

Beretta says this lovely side-by-side was made in approximately 1939 and known as the Beretta Vittoria (not to be confused with the Beretta handgun, auto-loader or break-action single barrel also bearing that name). If this gun won't make you yearn for the past in this age of machine-made boxlocks, I don't know what will. Check out those case-hardened sidelocks and open hammers, not to mention the rich bluing and expertly fitted stock.

Today the gun is on display at Beretta's London Gallery. While I don't know the rest of its history, I hope it involved grouse, setters and waxed cotton jackets.
