The 6.5 Creedmoor has had the shooting industry in a tizzy for a decade now, and while some are tired of hearing it, the design definitely has its merits. The 6.5’s little brother, the 6mm Creedmoor is gaining an equally stellar reputation, especially in the PRC circles, as it offers a perfectly viable long range trajectory with virtually no recoil.

To maximize trajectories and minimize wind deflection, you’ll need a bullet that has a high Ballistic Coefficient value, in other words, a sleek design that will slice through the air easiest. I’m certain you’re familiar with those bullets that feature the long, tapering ogives. They’re great at traveling through the atmosphere, but not so great at the initial engagement of rifling. Berger has solved the issue, with a hybrid bullet design that blends both tangent and secant ogive styles for a best-of-both-worlds solution.

Federal Premium is now loading that Berger bullet in its Gold Medal ammunition line for the 6mm Creedmoor for 2018. Using a 105-grain Berger Hybrid bullet—with the famous J4 jacket, known for its concentricity—the new Federal 6mm Creedmoor Gold Medal load will have steel singing in the next zip code with no issues at all. Whether it’s an AR-platform rifle, or your favorite bolt gun, the Gold Medal ammo will get the job done.

The model we had in had, the 590R Chisel, a 3-inch chambered 12 gauge, comes with a beautifully Cerakoted polymer-ceramic receiver, which contrasts nicely with its black stock, barrel and heat shield.
