X-Vision Optics has released its Thermal Reflex Sight Wide View (TRW1), designed for for tracking, scanning, and close-range shooting within 100 yards. With an extra-wide field of view, the quick-target acquisition sight is compact, lightweight and durable. With a detection range up to 500-yards and a 225-yard recognition range, the sight produces images on a 1.63-inch AMOLED display. The TRW1 also features a quick-release Picatinny mount and IP67 weatherproof rating, to hold up in adverse weather conditions.

Employing its widened field of view, the device allows for easy target detection and target acquisition. A frame rate of 25 Hz captures sharp thermal images and is able to track rapidly moving targets. The objective lens is 6.8mm and has a field of view of 250 feet at 100 yards. The sight boasts a 1X-4X magnification range with a detector resolution of 240X210.

Capable of handling over 53 ft.-lbs. of recoil, the Thermal Reflex Sight allows for compatibility with a large variety of firearms and crossbows. This is aided by the device's light weight of only .55 pounds, which is matched by its sub-three-inch height profile. Next, a visible 650 nm laser allows for rapid target acquisition and identification. The device has four reticle options with four different reticle color options. Each palette option will detect heat and display it in the selected color. The four-color palettes include White Hot, Black Hot, Red Hot, and Full Color. The four reticle patterns include: Crosshair, Half crosshair, single dot, and single dot with surrounding brackets. The device is capable of manual or automatic shutter calibration, which aids in clearer imaging. Finally, the unit can save four sets of zeroing data, allowing for easy swapping between multiple firearms and crossbows, as well as different ballistic models for the same firearm.

The Blocker Outdoors Finisher Chest Pack Pro is the kind of gear that takes the basic tenets of turkey hunting into consideration, while attempting to minimize the burden of a cumbersome full-size vest. This makes it a a straightforward alternative to a full-size turkey vest for run-and-gun hunters who want to balance loadout with freedom of movement.

The Value of Post Season Scouting in the Snow

Although for most of the country deer season is over, there are some important aspects of deer hunting to be understood, particularly when it snows during the winter months. In my part of the country, we don’t often get a good blanket of snow until the deer season closes. However, when it does snow, I make a point to get outdoors and visit each of my hunting areas to learn when the learning is best.
