When the weather turns sour, you need something to hide you from more than the deer. The Ameristep Pro Series Thermal Blind helps hunters stay protected from the weather's worst, while still retaining enough interior room for their gear. The blind's five-hub, pentagon design creates an asymmetrical shape that offers plenty of room for bulky clothing, gear, and more. This shape also helps break up the outline of the blind, making it less threatening to game animals, while Mossy Oak Elements Terra camouflage blends into most any setting.

The blind has a 59X59X30-inch footprint, an 84-inch shooting width, and a height of 70 inches. Heavy-duty 300D quilted fabric adds insulated protection on every exposed surface, including roof, walls and windows, providing extra warmth for all-day, cold weather sits. Twelve silent-slide windows/mesh—eight triangular and four vertical—offer ample room to maneuver while Black ShadowGuard coating eliminates shadows and silhouettes, helping mask hunters' movements in the blind. Finally, the easy-access walk-through door is both quiet to operate and large enough for smooth access.

For more information on this cold-weather blind, which comes with a carry bag, ground stakes, and tie-down cord. ameristep.comMSRP: $349.99

When he was 12 the author shot a limit of ring-necks when he was hunting for wigeon. It wasn’t the last time divers turned a slow day of duck hunting into a memorable one. The season might be over, but take a step back into the very end of the season with Scott Haugen, as he takes on some divers.

Recipe: Deep-Rooted Venison Stew

Several friends and I often circle back to the same campfire debate about which wild game makes the best stew. Mule deer usually leads the pack, with moose close behind, but any well-handled game meat can stand out when you build the right layers of flavor. The real magic starts long before the broth simmers. It comes from the vegetables and mushrooms you choose.
