CZ-USA has released a new family of rifles termed the 600 line. Coming chambered in a wide variety of calibers, this new series of rifles includes the 600 Alpha, the 600 Lux, the 600 Range and the 600 Trail. While the latter two rifles a geared toward benchrest shooters and backpackers, the Alpha and the Lux are aimed squarely at hunters, and hunters should really take note.

600 Alpha Trigger

For starters, despite bearing the CZ moniker, both these models bear an MSRP below $1000. The 600 Alpha was designed as a do-it-all, sub-MOA rifle, with an adjustable trigger. A lightweight-aluminum receiver balances against a semi-heavy barrel for an excellent combination of portability, and recoil absorption. The black-synthetic stock is reinforced with fiber, and boasts a parallel comb which optimizes cheek weld when using an optic. The stock's geometry is symmetrical, with a vertical grip. Serrated soft-touch inserts are located here, and elsewhere along the stock, to keep grip firm in less than ideal conditions. Finally, integrated stretches of Picatinny rail above the receiver ease the mounting of an optic. The Alpha comes chambered in .223 Remington, 224 Valkyrie, 7.62X39m, .308 Winchester, 6 mm Creedmoor, 6.5 Creedmoor, 6.5 PRC, .30-06 Springfield, and .300 Winchester Magnum. MSRP: $749

500 Lux Bolt Handle and Stock

For those looking for a more stately 600, the Lux comes with a Bavarian-style stock, constructed from oil-finished, select-grade Turkish Walnut, and a wood-grain bolt-knob to match. As the rifle comes equipped with iron sights on the barrel, the comb has been uniquely shaped to balance between the needs of shooters using either optics or fixed sights. Speaking of optics, the steel receiver is drilled and tapped for Remington 700-style bases, a fairly ubiquitous component. Fish-scale checkering along the grip and decorative fore-end contribute to the rifle's elegant looks, while simultaneously providing a functional addition for the shooter. A detachable box magazine keeps between three and five shots on tap (caliber dependent). An adjustable trigger and bottom-mounted sling loops round out the features on this attractive hunting gun, which comes chambered in .223 Rem., .308 Win., .30-06 Springfield, and .300 Win. Mag. MSRP: $849
