Browning, whose ammunition line saw the light of day in 2016, has expanded the line for 2017 to include a varmint/predator specific offering: the Browning BXV Predator & Varmint ammunition. When hunting the various varmints, or trying to anchor the furbearers, rapid expansion and hydraulic shock give an advantage, quickly dispatching the animal while minimizing the damage to a pelt.

Recognizing these facts, Browning has engineered the new BXV ammunition line for those desired traits. A polymer tipped, flat based bullet with a thin jacket is driven at a high velocity, resulting in a combination perfect for this purpose. Using lighter bullet weights helps to provide the near-explosive expansion, as well as to allow for increased velocities.

The new ammo line incorporates the famous BuckMark logo on the headstamp of the nickel-plated cases. Shooting the .22-250 Remington ammunition at the SHOT Show Industry Day at the Range, I found the exemplary accuracy that has been demonstrated by the previous Browning ammo I’ve tested.

The new Browning BXV ammo is available in four popular varmint calibers: .22 Hornet (35 grain ), .223 Remington (50 grain), .22-250 Remington (50 grain ) and .243 Winchester (65 grain). I look forward to taking this ammo line afield, to ruin a coyote’s day.
