TruGlo has announced the introduction of its new IGNiTE series of affordable red-dot sights, designed to provide users with a robust, reliable red-dot optic for fast target acquisition in close quarters. TruGlo launched the new line with two models:

The IGNiTE 30mm is built on an optic with a large objective lens to give users a wide field of view, and the lens is protected by molded flip-up lens caps. Intended for tactical carbines, the IGNiTE 30mm includes a machined cantilever Picatinny rail mount that provides an absolute co-witness with standard-height back-up iron sights.

The IGNiTE Mini is a smaller optic with a 22mm objective lens which is shielded by a removable rubber dust cover. A riser mount is preinstalled on the sight, giving users a lower-third co-witness option with AR-15 back-up iron sights. The installed “high” mount can easily be swapped for the included “low” mount for use on other firearms such as shotguns, railed handguns and various rifles. The optic mounting system is compatible with T1/H1 mounts and adapters.

The new red-dot sights run on a single AAA battery that illuminates a 2-MOA dot that’s parallax free past 30 yards with brightness controlled by digital push-buttons. Both sights are windage- and elevation-adjustable in .5-MOA increments with no extra tools, thanks to the slotted adjustment device built into the turret cap. The sights also include a 4-hour auto-off feature, and all IGNiTE optics are Nitrogen gas-filled, fog-proof, water-resistant and can handle recoil up to 7.62x51mm NATO.

Both new IGNiTE red-dot sights have an MSRP of $179. For more information, visit truglo.com.

Hardware Review: Steyr Pro Hunter III SX

While its most recognizable gun remains the ever-futuristic-looking AUG tactical bullpup first made in 1977 and still used by militaries worldwide, Steyr also makes handguns and hunting rifles. Its Pro Hunter III SX rifle is an all-around hunting rifle and a great example of Steyr quality, a trait much easier felt than described. I’ll try it anyway.

Copper Mine Helps Boost Arizona’s Bighorn Population

One of the world’s most productive copper mines is also one of Arizona’s most reliable sources of Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep. The bighorns are not shy about entering the Freeport McMoRan open-pit mining operation—near Morenci, Ariz.—but predators are. As a result, there’s no natural check on sheep population growth.
