I am, admittedly, a bullet junkie. I like many different types, brands, shapes and conformations. However, among my favorites—and quite high on the list—is the Swift Scirocco. They’re wonderfully accurate, possess a high B.C. value and the terminal ballistics are excellent.

With a polymer tip—used both to initiate expansion as well as to keep the meplat consistent—secant ogive and a boattail, the Scirocco will retain a healthy amount of both its initial velocity and energy downrange. The thick, tapering copper jacket is chemically bonded to the lead core, so bullet breakup is absolutely no concern. It hits where you aim it, and kills what it hits. I've used it in my handloads for over fifteen years without a single issue or lost game animal.

Remington saw the wisdom of this bullet as well and offered it in their Premier ammunition line, but discontinued it, much to the dismay of many shooters who loved the performance, especially in the Remington Ultra Magnum series of cartridges. Well, 2019 gives those shooters much to be happy about, as the company has announced the reintroduction of the Premier Scirocco Bonded ammunition line.

Those hunters who shoot 7mm and .300 Remington Ultra Magnum will finally have the source of ammunition they’ve missed (I know, because I’ve handloaded a bunch of both for shooters who had no other means), but there are enough classic cartridges on this list that the Scirocco can be enjoyed by the majority of big-game hunters.

Remington Premier Scirocco Bonded is available in 20-round boxes, in the following cartridges/bullet weights:
• .243 Win. 90-grain Swift Scirocco Bonded | MSRP: $43.50

Hardware Review: Steyr Pro Hunter III SX

While its most recognizable gun remains the ever-futuristic-looking AUG tactical bullpup first made in 1977 and still used by militaries worldwide, Steyr also makes handguns and hunting rifles. Its Pro Hunter III SX rifle is an all-around hunting rifle and a great example of Steyr quality, a trait much easier felt than described. I’ll try it anyway.
