Now in its 16th year, the NRA Golden Bullseye Awards represent the pinnacle of achievement within the shooting, hunting and outdoor trade.

In 2017, after years of record-breaking sales, many industry observers wondered what ingenious introductions might still be unveiled. After all, any product worthy of our gold standard must meet or exceed American Hunter’s expectations of innovation—and they absolutely must provide hunters with value for their money. But once again, we were surprised when we collected nominations and tallied our votes.

Woman’s Innovation Product of the Year: Sitka Women’s Gear
In 2017, Sitka introduced its first Women’s Whitetail systems to outfit female hunters with women-specific fits and advanced technologies not yet found in its men’s line. The company included accomplished female designers, product developers, pattern makers and hunters from day one to assure Sitka Women’s Gear is made for women by women.

We like the Women’s Fanatic Jacket and Bibs (“Fit to Hunt from the Inside Out,” October 2017) with quiet Berber fleece, PrimaLoft Silver insulation and a Gore Windstopper membrane to block chilly breezes. “It’s the warmest hunting clothing I have ever worn,” exclaimed Digital Associate Editor Rose Bier. The jacket includes a diagonal full zip, insulated hand muff, zippered hand pockets to cache gadgets and a safety harness port. The bibs include full side zips, adjustable suspenders, adjustable waistband and articulated knees to make wear comfortable. Add hats, balaclavas, neck gaiters, gloves and more to round out any Sitka system to take her from early fall right into the dead of winter.

Editor's Note: NRA Publications will present the annual Golden Bullseye Awards at an exclusive breakfast during the 2018 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Dallas, Tx., May 4-6.
