On this week's #SundayGunday, we are taking a look at the new-for-2026 design of the CZ 600+ ST3 American, the ST3 being the long- and magnum-action model. Built by the legendary Czech company for the American market, this is a rifle adapted perfectly to hunting on this continent.

Lily motiffs

It set into a beautiful walnut stock for a classic look, with a textured grip and fore-end for purchase, and even some lily motifs for some extra flair. A soft rubber recoil pad sits at the back to soak the kick from the prodigious rounds the gun is chambered for. Now let’s get into the fun stuff. As is usual with CZ products, there is an extreme focus on accuracy. No matter the chambering, the rifle carries a sub-MOA guarantee. The steel receiver is drilled and tapped for Remington 700 scope mounts, and houses a bolt with a 60-degree throw for fast and easy follow-up shots. Despite that Remington style mounting interface, the gun actually boasts a controlled round feed action.

Chris shooting

The barrel is lightweight and cold-hammer-forged, threaded to 9/16-24 at the muzzle in every chambering except the .223 mini action, which uses standard 1/2x28 TPI. Here’s where things get really cool. The barrel is fully user interchangeable, meaning you can use the same gun for hunting and target shooting, in fully different calibers. Simply remove the action from the stock, and pull out the two Torx screws securing the barrel, swap the bolt head and you’re good to go! In fact, while all barrel swaps are relegated to chamberings within the same action family (type I: mini; type II: short; type III: long/magnum), with the long action ST3s, all chamberings except .300 Win. Mag. ONLY require a new barrel, you don’t even have to swap the bolt head. For .300 Win. Mag. of course, you’ll need a new bolt head as well.

Magazine

The gun feeds from a detachable magazine you can run as is, or lock in place and convert to fixed, and the single-action trigger is adjustable between four settings, from 1.3 to 3.1 pounds (the actual settings are in Newtons, if you’re wondering why the numbers are a little odd). Finally, the gun boasts a patented Silent Ergonomic Ambidextrous vertical safety atop the tang, for fast and quiet operation.

Hardware Review: Browning BAR MK 4 Hunter

First, the Browning Automatic Rifle addressed in this article is not the renowned 1918 BAR of military fame. I’ve actually seen an American Rifleman editor hunt hogs with a reproduction 1918 BAR. While it was a spectacle to behold, it’s probably not the optimal choice for the deer woods, but hey, who am I to judge? The Browning BAR we’re talking about in this article is the iconic hunting rifle.
