LEDE Beretta USA Delivers A300 Ultima Patrol Shotguns To The TWRA

It’s an unfortunate reality that today’s wildlife officers occasionally encounter dangerous criminals while executing their duties or are forced to put down a problem animal. For those reasons the officers dedicated to conservation often go afield armed and some of those working for the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) have recently been issued Beretta USA A300 Ultima Patrol Shotguns.

“We are proud to be adding such a high-quality shotgun to our officer gear,” said TWRA executive director Jason Maxedon. “These guns are made in Tennessee and will be put to good use serving Tennesseans, ensuring public safety, and protecting wildlife species for generations to come.”

The A300 Ultima Patrol shotgun was developed from Beretta’s time proven A300 action, engineered to be ultra-reliable and easy to manipulate. The new defense shotgun includes enlarged controls, an enhanced loading port and a thinner fore-end design with multiple M-LOK and QD sling mounting points. Its 7+1 shot extended magazine tube is secured by a custom barrel clamp with integral M-LOK capability.

“We are honored to support our home state TWRA officers with a shotgun born from the needs of U.S. law enforcement and proudly manufactured at our Gallatin, Tenn., manufacturing facility,” said Stefano Itri, vice president of international sales at Beretta Defense Technologies USA. “The A300 Patrol carries on the Beretta tradition of excellence, providing our law enforcement officers with a reliable, accurate and durable product they can trust.”

“The A300 Patrol provides the agency or individual officer with an incredible value gun,” said Gabriele de Plano, Beretta vice president of product marketing and communication, law enforcement. “It provides the performance and features required by the professional user at an affordable price.”

Beretta Defense Technologies is the strategic alliance of Beretta Holding companies—including Beretta, Benelli, Sako, Steiner and Norma—that provides products and services to enable superior performance in the defense and law enforcement communities.

Member's Hunt: Patience is Tough When You Shoot a Big Buck

My phone still in my hands, I texted my teenage son, who was hunting along the field not far away. Trying not to move any part of my body but my thumbs, I sent the message, “Got a buck down, but he’s still alive. Help!” Tucker texted back, “What do you want me to do?” I replied: “Come kill the bastard before he kills me!” Intrigued? Read on.

Behind the Bullet: The .308 Norma Magnum

Norma’s ballistician Nils Kvale saw the wisdom of having the velocity and horsepower of the .300 H&H Magnum, but in a shorter, more affordable receiver, and used the H&H case to develop his .358 Norma Magnum in 1959 as well as the .308 Norma Magnum one year later. The .308 Norma Magnum closely resembles the wildcat .30-338 cartridge, though the shoulder of the former is located a bit more toward the base than that of the .308 Norma Magnum. Intrigued?
