SportDOG Brand has announced the continuation of its Conservation Fund initiative. The Companions for Conservation contest will result in three lucky youth hunters taking ownership of puppies, trained by SportDOG Brand Senior ProStaff members. The winners will also receive a bevy of SportDOG training gear.

For 2016, the company has chosen the Labrador as the subject of its contest. Three of the country's top waterfowl gundog trainers will provide training through the started stage of the labs. The contest will begin at 11 a.m. on June 1, 2016. To enter, post your original dog training, youth education project, hunting or wildlife habitat related photo to the SportDOG Brand Facebook, Twitter or Instagram page. Entries can also be submitted here. The post must contain the hashtag that corresponds the lab you'd like to win (black, yellow or chocolate, respectively): #C4CBLACKLAB, #C4CYELLOWLAB, or #C4CCHOCOLATELAB.

Entries can be submitted between 11 a.m. EST (June 1, 2016) and 5 p.m. EST on June 22, 2016. A panel of judges will determine finalists for each puppy, after which a month-long public voting period will begin. The winners will be announced in August.

Recipe: Deep-Rooted Venison Stew

Several friends and I often circle back to the same campfire debate about which wild game makes the best stew.
