Delta Waterfowl will soon be hosting hunter education camps and mentored hunts across four Canadian provinces, thanks in part to a recent $90,000 grant that the organization received from Wildlife Habitat Canada. Delta is expanding its recruitment efforts to secure the next generation of waterfowl hunters.

"Recruiting new waterfowlers is crucial to the future of duck hunting and waterfowl conservation," said Jim Fisher, director of conservation policy for Delta Waterfowl. "WHC's generous grant will expand our efforts in Canada to introduce new hunters of all ages and genders to waterfowling."

The grant provides funds for six-day hunter education camps to be held this summer in Ontario and Manitoba, and a one-day course in Prince Edward Island. Campers will learn a number of duck hunting skills. The WHC grant will also fund two-day mentored waterfowl hunts in Ontario, Manitoba and British Columbia this fall as part of Delta's First Hunt.

"Delta Waterfowl has always been a key partner for us in delivering projects on the ground," said Cameron Mack, executive director of Wildlife Habitat Canada. "We are pleased to support Delta's hunter education and recruitment effort, because it will ensure a new generation of waterfowl hunters who understand the importance of conserving wetlands and waterfowl."
