RCBS, a leading manufacturer of precision reloading equipment, is sponsoring efforts by Pass It On—Outdoor Mentors to expand its outdoor mentoring program. Through the partnership, RCBS will support the organization’s mission of pairing young people, many of them first-time hunters, with trained volunteers who provide hands-on experiences in hunting, shooting sports and conservation education.

On March 31 the U.S. Forest Service—part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture—announced it will move its headquarters to Salt Lake City, Utah, and begin a sweeping restructuring of the agency to bring leadership closer to the forests and communities it serves.

 On Feb. 13 the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) announced more than $1.2 billion in Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration apportionments to support states, commonwealths and territories in their efforts to fund conservation and outdoor opportunities.

Though the country’s elk herd may be up compared to generations past, hunters cannot expect to find a bull behind every tree. We have increased human habitation and thus adapted elk habits to thank for that. Here’s a look at four tactics hunters can apply to elk country in 2025.

The American Wildlife Conservation Partners (AWCP)—comprised of the nation’s top 52 sporting-conservation organizations, including the NRA—released its Wildlife for the 21st Century, Volume VII (W-21) on Sept. 11.

Mossy Oak is taking its conservation efforts to a new level with a brand new Wild Turkey Conservation Stamp project, that will donate 100-percent of all money raised (including expenses incurred) directly to wild-turkey conservation efforts.

In our zeal to teach hunter-recruits marksmanship and fieldcraft we must not forget to arm them with the knowledge of everything American hunters have done to conserve our natural resources. A well-armed hunter, after all, is our best advertisement.

As we celebrate 150 years of the NRA and reflect on the progress generated by NRA hunter members over the years, let us also acknowledge that our once widely accepted pastime is being pushed to the fringes then commit to recruiting others to “Join the Hunt.”

You wouldn’t go hunting without proper preparation; likewise, it’s equally important to prepare to communicate effectively about hunting before you find yourself trying to defend it.
