Weatherby's 2010 product line includes two new offerings for young hunters and shooters: the Vanguard Youth rifle and the SA-08 Synthetic Youth semi-automatic shotgun.

The Vanguard Youth features a removable elongated spacer system that allows the rifle to grow with the shooter. Installing the spacer creates a longer length of pull (12 1/2 inches to 13 5/8 inches) to accommodate young shooters as they mature. The Vanguard Youth weighs only 6 1/2 pounds and has a 20-inch contour barrel.

Key features of the Synthetic Youth semi-auto shotgun include a short 12 1/2-inch length of pull, 24-inch barrel and just 5 3/4 pounds of weight. Its proven dual valve system allows shooters to quickly adapt the shotgun to accommodate the widest load ranges, from 3/4 ounce to heavy 3-inch magnum. Another benefit of the dual valve system is reduced recoil as compared to traditional single valve shotguns. The Synthetic Youth comes in 20 gauge.

The Vanguard Youth is available in .223 Remington, .22-250 Remington, .243 Winchester, 7mm-08 Remington and .308 Winchester. As with all Vanguard rifles, the Youth is backed with Weatherby's accuracy guarantee of a 1 1/2-inch or better three-shot group at 100 yards from a cold barrel when used with premium (non-Weatherby calibers) or Weatherby factory ammunition.

Built on the Vanguard foundation of accurate performance, exceptional value and affordability, the Youth carries a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $529.

The Synthetic Youth sports a black stock and matte black metalwork to reduce glare, and a brass bead front sight. Manufacturer's suggested retail price: $569.
