"Mark V" has always been synonymous with Weatherby, and for good reason. The company's signature firearm has been a staple among hunters and rifle shooters since its introduction—enjoying so much success that Weatherby hasn't had much need to refine the original design. That much will change in 2016, however, as the company rolls out what has been dubbed the New Mark V.

Fear not, the Mark V still isn't broke—it's just getting a few upgrades.

“Our unrelenting pursuit of excellence led us to the development of the New Mark V,” said Adam Weatherby, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the company that bears his family name. “The rifle features our new LXX Trigger, a highly refined, ergonomically enhanced stock, a hand- lapped barrel, and a Sub-MOA accuracy guarantee. 2016 ushers in the next era in the legendary life of the rifle that changed shooting forever.”

The new Weatherby LXX Trigger, pictured above, is designed to increase performance and shooter accuracy. The trigger’s surfaces are precision ground and polished, and overall tolerances have been refined. A new, wider trigger face boosts trigger-to-finger contact for a more consistent and comfortable pull. It is adjustable down to 2.5 lbs.

The stocks on the New Mark V rifles will be physically enhanced with a slimmer forearm and sharper, more distinctive lines. The grip diameter will be reduced, a right-hand palm swell will be added and overall weight will be decreased. Weatherby hopes that the refinements will produce a better fit and feel for a wider range of shooters.

Each New Mark V will come with a SUB-MOA accuracy guarantee. That's a 3-shot group measuring .99" or less at 100 yards, if you're scoring at home.
