There are some great activities for NRA members to enjoy at the 2015 NRA convention. In addition to walking the show floor and visiting with fellow NRA members and manufacturers, you can attend exclusive presentations such as “Thompson: An American Legend” and workshops such as “Refuse To Be A Victim.” Prefer to attend a few seminars? Stop in at “3 Gun 101,” “Home Defense Concepts,” “Current and Emerging Threats: How It Affects You,” “Methods of Concealed Carry” and/or “Puppy to Professional: Dog Training and Handling.”

That last one is just in time for training that new bird dog for this fall! And for some good ideas on how to prepare all those birds your dog will retrieve, join me at the seminar “Wild Game Cooking: From Field to Table” starting at 11 a.m. As someone who enjoys editing American Hunter’s annual wild-game cooking feature, trying new game recipes and learning about the best cuts to get the most out of my game animal, I’m looking forward to picking up something new!

And, by the way, guess who is sponsoring the NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits seminars? Cabela’s!

I’d say that’s certainly fitting considering Cabela’s is a leading specialty retailer of hunting, fishing, camping and all-things-outdoor merchandise. And I don’t know any NRA member who hasn’t shopped there! My friend Kyle Weaver, Executive Director of NRA General Operations, was pleased to add, “The NRA and Cabela’s have a longstanding history of working together to promote America’s great firearms heritage!” That’s Nashville music to our ears!
