Leica Sport Optics has launched a newly developed series of riflescopes: the Leica Amplus 6. Featuring a 30mm tube with a 6X zoom, the Amplus balances performance with ruggedness, complimented by 90mm of eye relief and an extremely sharp illuminated dot. The exit pupil, meanwhile, is large at up to 12mm, as i the field of view, at up to 38m. While the Leica L-4a reticle serves as the platform's universal hunting reticle, the L-Ballistics is also available for precision shooting at londer distances. Both reticles are in the second focal plane. Finally, more than 90-percent light transmission make this scope a performer even in lower-light scenarios, like twilight and dusk.

On the development of the Amplus, Ferdinand Mogwitz, product manager of hunting optics at Leica Camera AG, commented: “The Amplus 6 ensures reliability and precision at the critical moment. We rely on the proven Leica DNA: color-neutral images with brilliant color correction, effective stray light suppression, highest-quality and modern coating technology, as well as shock-resistant housing and unrivalled surface finish. This makes the new Amplus 6 series a reliable tool for everyday all-around hunting situations.”

For more information on this new series of riflescopes, available in: 1-6X 24mm (i); 3-18X 44mm (i), 2.5-15X 50mm (i); or 2.5-15X 56mm (i), with either the L-4a, L-Ballistic MRAD or L-Ballistic MOA reticles, please visit leicasportoptics.comMSRP: $1,199-$1,499

Alligator Hunting Opportunities Are Expanding

This year, both Florida and Louisiana are expanding or introducing new opportunities for alligator hunts. For decades, Florida has estimated that there are over one million in the state—it is, of course, hard to count alligators. Louisiana now says its alligator population exceeds three million. The two states have managed their alligator populations very differently over the last half century, but now both are expanding hunting opportunities to help manage alligator populations.
