MAIN Hevi Steel Upland

Hevi-Shot has launched a band new line of shotshells, termed Hevi-Steel Upland. The two new high-velocity, 12-gauge dove and quail loads feature precision steel pellets, reliable ignition and a unique Hevi-Shot wad designed to produce exceptionally tight patterns.

“When a dove races across a field or a covey of quail erupts at your feet, speed matters. That’s why we push HEVI-Steel Upland faster than competing steel loads,” said Dan Compton, Hevi-Shot’s shotshell product director. “The velocity boost we gave these loads makes it easier to connect on hard-flying birds and delivers more energy on impact. They are perfect for upland hunters looking for a good, non-toxic, steel-shot option at a competitive price point.”

Hevi-Steel Upland boasts a relatively high velocity of 1,350 feet per second (fps) to maintain substantial terminal energy downrange. The two new 12-gauge, 2-3/4-inch loads will be available in shot size Number 6 or 7. Both variants boast a shot charge of one ounce, meaning that while the latter throws larger projectiles at the target, the former will yield a slightly larger cloud, and thus more opportunities to put steel on target. No matter the pellet count, however, both varieties promise to produce tight patterns, thanks to the Hevi-Shot wad. Hevi-Shot's steel has a density of 7.8 g/cc. Both number 6 and number 7 shotshells are already available at select dealers and online.
