Henry Provider And Protector

Whoever is behind the Henry Repeating Arms wheel these days needs to be given their own set of keys. The boys in Rice Lake have just announced two new product families of lever-action rifles: Protect and Provide. Each rifle line is purpose-built, with a focus on—you guessed it—protecting or providing. But like all good rifles, we feel each could play double-duty, so we here at American Hunter are having a hard time picking our favorite.

Protector Carbine

Protector Carbine

First up are the Protector Carbines: compact and lightweight, these slick little lever guns sport short, 16.5-inch, suppressor-ready barrels, blued-steel receivers, American Walnut stocks and fully adjustable sights. They also come with sling-swivel studs for attaching a sling, and are drilled and tapped for optics mounting. We feel a nice red-dot or LVPO would work wonders on these rigs.

This is a package that’s maneuverable and agile, making it perfect for the bedroom closet and pick-up truck. But we also feel it’d be a great gun for the deer blind, thick Northern woods, or for stalking hogs on the ranch. Add a suppressor and you’re still left with a gun that’ll work it’s way through a Florida swamp or oak thicket, and reduce recoil and protect your ears at the same time.

The Protector series is available in a handful of your favorite lever-gun chamberings, including the pistol calibers like .357 Magnum/.38 Spl., and .44 Magnum/.44 Spl. Rifle calibers include the classics, like .30-30 Winchester and .45-70 Govt., and also the new-to-the-game .360 Buckhammer.

With this variety of chamberings, you’ll be set to cover the homestead and backwoods alike.

Protector Carbine

Protector Carbine calibers include:

  • H9 Protector Carbine in .30-30 Win. and .360 Buckhammer
  • H10 Protector Carbine in .45-70 Govt.
  • H12 Protector Carbine in .357 Magnum/.38 Spl. and .44 Magnum/.44 Spl

All Protector Carbines carry an MSRP of $1,200.

Provider Rifle

Provider Rifle

Next up, the Provider Rifles: Built for the hunter first and foremost, these lever-action rifles trade the short, suppressor-ready barrel for ammo capacity and a full-length barrel that’ll get the most out of any chosen chambering. Sporting 20-inch, non-threaded, blued barrels, these rifles feature the same American walnut stocks, adjustable iron sights and drilled and tapped receivers as their Protector cousins, but they also feature a full-length magazine tube, able to hold 10 rounds in the pistol chamberings and six rounds in the rifle-caliber configurations.

Having a side-loading gate as well as a removeable magazine tube means you can load the tube easily and quickly top it off via the side-loading gate should you come across a group of hogs willing to hang around. Of course, there’s sling-swivel studs on the Provider rifles, too, so you can tote this hunting rig near and far.

The Provider Rifle is available in a slew of your favorite hunting-capable chamberings, including the pistol calibers .357 Magnum/.38 Spl., and .44 Magnum/.44 Spl. But of course, the real contenders for this rig are the rifle calibers, and the Provider has a bit more to offer the hunter than the Protector. Rifle calibers include the .30-30 Win., the .45-70 Govt., and the .360 Buckhammer ... but wait, there’s more! The Provider is also available in .38-55 Winchester and .35 Remington! With these options, there’s no deer, bear, elk or hog inside 200 yards that’s safe from your lever-gun!

Provider Rifle calibers include

  • H9 Provider Rifle in .30-30 Win., .360 Buckhammer, .38-55 Win., and .35 Rem.
  • H10 Provider Rifle in .45-70 Gov’t.
  • H12 Provider Rifle in .357 Magnum/.38 Spl. and .44 Magnum/.44 Spl.

All Provider Rifles carry an MSRP of $1,135.

Both of these new rifle platforms are shipping now and should be showing up on the shelves of your local gun store soon. So keep your eyes peeled.
