Given the tens of thousands of dedicated NRA members, a bevy of outdoor-industry celebrities and even a handful of 2016 presidential hopefuls in attendance at the 144th NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits, it'd be little surprise if you barely realized that the staff of American Hunter was in Nashville. But we were indeed combing the "Nine Acres of Guns" that took over the Music City from April 10-12—in force, at that. We can't say we caught up with each of the 550 exhibitors on hand, nor that we found every nook and cranny in the 450,000 square foot convention center. But we did do a fair bit of legwork, and we're happy to share an inside look at the show with you. Hit the links provided below for more information. Happy reading!

Behind the Bullet: The .308 Norma Magnum

Norma’s ballistician Nils Kvale saw the wisdom of having the velocity and horsepower of the .300 H&H Magnum, but in a shorter, more affordable receiver, and used the H&H case to develop his .358 Norma Magnum in 1959 as well as the .308 Norma Magnum one year later. The .308 Norma Magnum closely resembles the wildcat .30-338 cartridge, though the shoulder of the former is located a bit more toward the base than that of the .308 Norma Magnum. Intrigued?
