We expect our gear to do what it was made to do, to hold up to the beating we give it, time and time again. Here are our boot selections for 2018.

Irish Setter Rutmaster 2.0 Lite
Made from a combination of rubber and neoprene to reduce weight, this boot at 17 inches tall will let you walk through a creek and stay warm and dry. A nylon lining, flexible design and toe stud at the heel take the pain out of putting these boots on and  taking them off. Scentban treatment kills odor-causing bacteria to keep you stealthy. MSRP: $159.99; irishsetterboots.com.

Le Chameau Condor LCX
At 10 inches tall with a durable, semi-stiff leather upper and 360-degree, armor-like rubber rand, these European hunting boots will punch through the nastiest briars like a tank through the hedgerows. LCX lining provides dependable, breathable waterproofing, and the sole utilizes Michelin tire technology to provide traction, flexibility and long-lasting service. MSRP: $399.99; lechameau.com.

Danner Women's Wayfinder Boot
These boots will take you from the trailhead to places lesser hunters wouldn’t dare venture. An 8-inch height, along with laces that start deep in the toe, provide full-length support and a snug fit. A waterproof barrier keeps you dry while allowing moisture to escape. Nylon and suede construction is plenty durable and resists abrasion in rough terrain. Shock-absorbing footbed, a narrow heel and rugged Wayfinder outsoles combine in a lightweight boot built for women who go the distance. MSRP: $140; danner.com.
