Kim Rhode made history in Rio, becoming the first American athlete—and first female athlete, from anywhere—to medal in six consecutive Olympic Games. Rhode's longtime supporter, Winchester, is celebrating the history-making achievement by once again featuring Rhode on boxes of AA target loads.

The standard AA loads, AA128, will be in the commemorative boxes and available at Winchester retailers.

“We are proud of our long-standing partnership with USA Shooting, and particularly Kim Rhode,” said Brett Flaugher, vice president of marketing, sales and strategy at Winchester Ammunition. “We offer a heartfelt congratulations to all the athletes who participated in this year’s games. Kim and her fellow teammates are a reflection of all that is great about sporting competition, what is best about America and what is best about the benefits of competitive target shooting.”

Winchester has long been connected to Rhode and the USA Shooting team, having served as the team's exclusive shotshell sponsor and supplier since 1999.

“We all owe a great deal of our success to Winchester and their AAs. They’ve helped us practice, train and compete with the confidence we need just knowing we’re shooting the best product out there,” said Kim Rhode. “We’re very proud to have the Winchester name behind our team and are very thankful to have those legendary AA shotshells in our shooting vests.

Behind the Bullet: The .308 Norma Magnum

Norma’s ballistician Nils Kvale saw the wisdom of having the velocity and horsepower of the .300 H&H Magnum, but in a shorter, more affordable receiver, and used the H&H case to develop his .358 Norma Magnum in 1959 as well as the .308 Norma Magnum one year later. The .308 Norma Magnum closely resembles the wildcat .30-338 cartridge, though the shoulder of the former is located a bit more toward the base than that of the .308 Norma Magnum. Intrigued? Science Behind Mountain Lion Management and Hunting

Across North America, agencies responsible for the conservation and management of native mammals, including large carnivores, employ science-based tools to manage wildlife populations. It’s a delicate balance too often compromised by emotion at the ballot box.
