The National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers (NASGW) has named Hornady Manufacturing the 2016 Ammunition Manufacturer of the Year.

At the NASGW Annual Meeting and Expo in Kansas City, Missouri, where over 450 members were present, Hornady took home its sixth Ammunition Manufacturer of the Year award.

"Our team of talented engineers, safety professionals, marketing people and folks on the factory floor make this award possible," Renae Waltermath, Hornady's Sales Director, said. "We strive every year to produce high quality products, and we are honored to be recognized."

Every year, NASGW distinguishes the top accessory, ammunition, and firearms manufacturers who show a devout use of the two-step distribution method while simultaneously producing top quality products and great customer service, as well as running an ethical and efficient business that supports the NASGW and others in the industry.

Behind the Bullet: The .308 Norma Magnum

Norma’s ballistician Nils Kvale saw the wisdom of having the velocity and horsepower of the .300 H&H Magnum, but in a shorter, more affordable receiver, and used the H&H case to develop his .358 Norma Magnum in 1959 as well as the .308 Norma Magnum one year later. The .308 Norma Magnum closely resembles the wildcat .30-338 cartridge, though the shoulder of the former is located a bit more toward the base than that of the .308 Norma Magnum. Intrigued?
