Apex Ammunition has partnered with some of the industry’s finest to provide one lucky winner with all the right gear for the upcoming waterfowl season. In addition to receiving an incredible array of equipment, they will also win a trip to hunt ducks and geese in Saskatchewan with three friends in the Fall of 2025.

There is no cost to enter, and the total retail value of the giveaway is $24,500. Anyone age 18 and over is eligible to enter from Aug. 1 to Oct. 15, 2024, through the Apex Set for the Season Giveaway webpage. The winner will be announced via Instagram live on Oct. 16, 2024, at 5 p.m. EDT.

Items in the giveaway include five cases of Apex shotshells—two of them the company’s S3 Steel shells (12-gauge No. 2) with the other three APEX Waterfowl TXX-S3 Steel Blend (12-gauge No. 7.5 TSS/No. 2 steel). To keep birds on ice, the package includes a Yeti 125 cooler and Yeti GoBox (15, 30 and 80).

In addition, two Turtlebox Audio speakers, two pairs of Lite Boots (Tall and Short), two Lucky Duck HD Spinners, a Lucky Duck 2x4 Blind, 120 Big Al’s Goose Decoys, 24 Heyday Hydrofoam Mallards with rigs and a fully outfitted Drake Waterfowl Systems suit round out the winner’s hardware haul.

The headliner, of course, is the three-day, four-person hunt with Fox Valley Waterfowl Outfitters. It alone is valued at $14,000.

Airfare to Saskatchewan is not included in the giveaway. The winner and guests are responsible for travel expenses, but will be picked up at that airport by the outfitter.

“Those of us at Apex Ammunition and our partner companies are avid waterfowlers who, like most of you, count the days until the season is back in again,” said Jason Lonsberry, president and CEO, Apex Ammunition. “We wanted to add to the excitement by offering the ultimate waterfowl giveaway where one lucky hunter will win enough equipment to be set for this season and have a trip to Canada to look forward to next year, thanks to the generous hunt donation by Fox Valley Waterfowl Outfitters. Our thanks to all of our great partners for joining us in this special giveaway.”

Member's Hunt: Patience is Tough When You Shoot a Big Buck

My phone still in my hands, I texted my teenage son, who was hunting along the field not far away. Trying not to move any part of my body but my thumbs, I sent the message, “Got a buck down, but he’s still alive. Help!” Tucker texted back, “What do you want me to do?” I replied: “Come kill the bastard before he kills me!” Intrigued? Read on.

Behind the Bullet: The .308 Norma Magnum

Norma’s ballistician Nils Kvale saw the wisdom of having the velocity and horsepower of the .300 H&H Magnum, but in a shorter, more affordable receiver, and used the H&H case to develop his .358 Norma Magnum in 1959 as well as the .308 Norma Magnum one year later. The .308 Norma Magnum closely resembles the wildcat .30-338 cartridge, though the shoulder of the former is located a bit more toward the base than that of the .308 Norma Magnum. Intrigued?
