Walking around the show floor at the annual SHOT Show is like being back in high school; you fall in love with a different gun every five minutes, and this year is no different. Korth has partnered with Nighthawk Custom to bring to the market the new Ranger revolver chambered in .357 Mag, and it had me twitterpated in 3.5 seconds flat.

The Ranger sports a delightful array of features for a hunting or backcountry carry handgun: First across the line is a beautifully smooth double-action pull and delightfully crisp single-action trigger. Notably, the trigger action can be changed via Korth’s trigger wheel system from a smooth double action to a two-stage double action.

Alternate “wheels” are included with your purchase and are consumer interchangeable. The single-action trigger pull is also consumer adjustable via a small screw aft the trigger. The mainspring (coil type) can be adjusted as well via a screw reached through the grips.

Even better are the interchangeable cylinders. Just swing the .357 Mag. cylinder open, depress the detent aside the cylinder pin, and pull the whole kit-and-caboodle free. Install a 9mm or .38 Special cylinder and presto! In ten seconds flat you’ve re-chambered your revolver. Korth’s handgun is the most consumer–tunable revolver I’ve ever personally encountered.

Sights are Korth’s own—the front a tiny bright gold bead, the rear fully adjustable for windage and elevation. Picatinny rails are integrated both top and bottom of the barrel, making it easy to mount an optic, laser or light. The grips are lovely Turkish walnut, and labeled with the legendary Sheriff Jim Wilson’s name. Barrel length is 4 inches, and total weight 2 pounds, 14 ounces.

The Nighthawk Custom Korth Ranger has an MSRP of $4,799. For more information, visit nighthawkcustom.com.
