I’ve been a fan of small-frame .357 Magnum revolvers since I was knee-high to a short grasshopper, so when I spotted Ruger’s line extension of their LCR, incorporating my favorite .357 Mag caliber and a 3-inch barrel, I almost jumped up and down like the afore-mentioned grasshopper—almost—had I not been on the 2019 SHOT Show floor ...

My reasons for liking compact revolvers are myriad. They’re as foolproof as a handgun can get, they carry well on your hip, in your backpack or in your saddlebag, they pack a powerful punch for their size, and they can be shot double-action in a hurry or single-action for precise control and accuracy. On top of that, they’ll take a proper southwest beating and still function, dust, grime and grit be damned.

The new Ruger LCRx in .357 Magnum sports a matte black finish over stainless steel, a 5-round capacity, an overall length of 7.5 inches, and a weight of just 21.3 ounces. A Hogue Tamer Monogrip offers a comfortable grasp and helps tame recoil. Ramp front sight and adjustable rear sight round out the package.

The new .357 Magnum Ruger LCRx has an MSRP of $669. For more information, visit ruger.com.
