The latest version of the Powderhook app, a free program that allows both new and experienced hunters to connect and interact with others in the hunting community, find a place to hunt or fish, and discover local, current events related to hunting, fishing and recreational shooting, has been released, with two major useful features added to the updated software: “Camps” and “Mentoring.”

According to Eric Dinger, co-founder and CEO of Powderhook, “Camps” are essentially groups built by people using the app. Some are personal between hunting buddies and are used for sharing pictures and stories between group members. Others are more like online forums, and cover topics such as big-game hunting, archery, how-to guides on different subjects, etc.

The new “Mentoring” feature serves as a method for new hunters to easily connect with mentors in their area. Simply enter your interests and experience levels, age, gender and location, and the app will enable a relationship via your preferred method of communication; text, email, phone call or through the “Camps” feature.

“This latest release is the best representation of what Powderhook is all about, which is connecting outdoorsmen and women of all experience levels in every location,” said Dinger. “It also addresses the single biggest reason most people begin hunting and define themselves as hunters, because someone asked and helped them. We hope people use Powderhook to not only find a mentor, but for mentors to find apprentices looking for guidance and advice.”

Other features that have made the Powderhook app a great tool for hunters are still available, such as the “CRED” feature and its map identifying public lands along with the hunting and fishing areas on those lands in every state.
