To celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary in 2019, Mossberg has announced the introduction of its new Retrograde series of 12-gauge pump-action shotguns; the 500 Persuader Retrograde and 590A1 Retrograde. The retro-style models of the two iconic police and military pump-action shotguns are built to modern standards and feature a full-length walnut stock and matching corncob fore-end.

The Mossberg 500 platform has proven to be one of the most versatile and reliable shotguns designs available. In production for more than 50 years with over 12 million sold, it’s only pump-action shotgun design to pass the U.S. military’s mil-spec tests. Both the 500 Persuader Retrograde and 590A1 Retrograde are designed for smooth, dependable operation with the combination of non-binding twin action bars, dual extractors,  a positive steel-to-steel lock-up, anti-jam elevator, anodized aluminum receiver for added durability and universally-recognized, ambidextrous top-mounted safety.

The 500 Persuader Retrograde features an 18.5-inch cylinder bore barrel topped with a single front brass bead sight, a blued metal finish and wears a full-length walnut stock and corncob fore-end. It has a 5+1 capacity, an overall length of 39.5 inches and weighs 6.25 pounds. Suggested retail price is $504.

The 590A1 Retrograde is built to mil-spec standards and has a 20-inch heavy-walled, cylinder bore barrel complete with a heat shield, bayonet lug and Ghost Ring sights. Donning a Parkerized finish, metal trigger assembly and metal safety button, the 59A1 Retrograde also features a full-length walnut stock and corncob fore-end. It has an 8+1 capacity, an overall length of 41 inches and weighs 7.25 pounds. Suggested retail price is $902.

Range Review: Winchester Supreme Long Range Ammo

Winchester's latest ammunition line is the Supreme Long Range centerfire rifle ammo, and that line is built around its BC Max projectile. Using a thick, drawn copper jacket, steep boattail at the rear and a relatively oversized polymer tip, the BC Max bullet is built for resisting wind deflection and retaining energy downrange.
