Leupold has announced the VX-6HD, an updated version of its flagship VX-6 line.

Now featuring Leupold’s proprietary Twilight Max Light Management System and Guard-iON coating, the new scope offers better optical quality but still lives up to the same extreme standards Leupold products are known for.

The VX-6HD features illuminated reticles, which utilize electronic reticle-leveling. If the scope is canted more than one degree, the reticle will flash, notifying the shooter that the optic isn’t level. After the scope is brought back into proper alignment, the reticle ceases flashing. This allows for far more accurate shooting, especially at distance when small changes make big differences between shots.

Another perk found on the VX-6HD is the new elevation CDS dial, the CDS-ZL2. This dial upgrade allows for two complete revolutions of the dial, providing extended accuracy. A turn indicator also helps the shooter know exactly where the scope is currently adjusted. When matched to ballistics of a particular load, the dial becomes an invaluable tool for any hunter or shooter. Not only did the elevation dial get several improvements, but the windage dial is getting its own ZeroLock adjustment, too.

New models will be available in 1-6X24mm, 2-12X42mm, 3-18X44mm, 3-18X50mm and 4-24X52mm, and come with reticle options like the CM-R2, FireDot Circle, FireDot-G BDC, FireDot Bullet-Drop, Impact-23 MOA, Impact-29 MOA, Impact-45 MOA and the Varmint Hunter reticles.

The VX-6HD ships with an MSRP of $1,299.99.

Member's Hunt: The Spot

Back in 1963, my dad asked if I wanted to go deer hunting in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (what we locals call the U.P.). We had no tent, no camper and no cabin, although we did have a horse truck, and we converted it into a deer camp. Read on for this week's Member's Hunt, from Jim Mikkelsen.
