Montana Rifles, Booth 4365, introduces its Flats Brake. It was developed by company vice president Jeff Sipe specifically to minimize report blasted back to the hunter. The first three cuts are rather normal, while the fourth cut—the one closest to the hunter—is straight, which directs expelling gases away from the hunter, and thus cuts report significantly as compared to standard muzzle brakes. “I can stand right behind the shooter while he fires,” says Sipe, “and the report behind the stock is no louder than that produced by a standard hunting rifle."

The Flats Brake is available on three units—the Prairie Runner, Colorado Buck and Montana Tactical Rifle—however, customers who custom order a rifle from the company may designate the option on any new build.
