Expanding its assortment to include soft goods in 2026, waterfowl brand Avian-X has announced an all-new lineup of packs specifically designed to keep waterfowl hunters organized, mobile and ready for anything.

BA Backpack

BA Backpack

The all-new BA Backpack offers 1,600 cubic inches of rugged, molded EVA storage that will fit just about anything a hunter needs in the blind. It features a top-load main compartment and a fold-out front panel with dual storage areas that provide quick access to calls, gloves, and other essentials. Two detachable ammo bags can hold up to 40 rounds each, while external MOLLE daisy chains allow hunters to customize each setup to their liking. Dual duck totes on the shoulders quickly and easily secure limits of birds, and an integrated weapon-carrying system keeps firearms safe on the go.

Floating Duffel Decoy Backpack

Avian-X has also introduced a high-capacity Floating Duffel Decoy Backpack to its lineup, offering 11,500 cubic inches of storage—enough for up to 18 life-size mallards—and built to withstand the toughest waterfowl conditions. It features 2.5-inch closed-cell foam for dependable flotation and a rubberized mesh drain that quickly sheds water, reducing weight during long, waterlogged trips. Add in a rugged 900-denier Duk-Tek material, adjustable padded shoulder straps, three grab handles and a large, zippered opening for quick access to gear, and you've got the perfect mix of flotation, capacity and durability serious waterfowl hunters demand.

Floating Lumbar Blind Bag

The third item in the new branded lineup of packs is the Floating Lumbar Blind Bag, which delivers a 1,300-cubic-inch capacity, paired with rugged EVA-molded top and bottom compartments to shield gear from water, mud and impact, while keeping the entire bag afloat. A hybrid transport system with detachable shoulder straps and a removable padded waist belt lets hunters customize carry on the fly, and a thoughtfully designed interior—complete with a built-in organizer, stretch-webbing lid pocket, and dual ammo bags—keeps every piece of gear where it belongs. Adjustable firearm straps and a fleece-lined sunglasses pocket top off the package.

Behind the Bullet: The .308 Norma Magnum

Norma’s ballistician Nils Kvale saw the wisdom of having the velocity and horsepower of the .300 H&H Magnum, but in a shorter, more affordable receiver, and used the H&H case to develop his .358 Norma Magnum in 1959 as well as the .308 Norma Magnum one year later. The .308 Norma Magnum closely resembles the wildcat .30-338 cartridge, though the shoulder of the former is located a bit more toward the base than that of the .308 Norma Magnum. Intrigued?
