On this week's #SundayGunday, we’re taking a look at a gun that needs little introduction to hardcore backcountry hunters and anyone who loves a light rifle: the Wilson Combat NULA Model 20.

NULA Model 20 on white

A descendant of Melvin Forbes legendary New Ultralight Arms, the NULA 20 continues his legacy and design while adding in several improvements thanks to modern manufacturing methods, making it the lightest, most accurate rifle Wilson Combat can produce. While the spec list normally comes toward the end of these videos, with the NULA 20, the weight is the star feature. Depending on chambering and barrel length, the gun weights between 4 pounds 15 ounces and 5 pounds 4 ounces without a scope, all while guaranteeing sub-MOA accuracy—a pretty incredible combination.

Despite its diminutive weight, the barrel is crafted from 416R stainless steel, the interior of which has been honed smooth, double stress relieved and button rifled. Lengths can range from 16.25 to 22 inches depending on chambering, while all muzzles are threaded to 5/8x24 TPI, for the easy addition of a suppressor or brake. A Timney Elite Hunter Trigger yields a 2.75-3.25-pounds trigger pull, and locks the 4340 bar stock, Armor Tuffed bolt when the safety is engaged, while the receiver has been machined and EDM-cut from 4140 bar stock steel. These components are nested into an AG Composites Carbon Fiber stock with reinforced receiver walls for added strength without additional heft. An interesting inclusion for handloaders, the magazine box of the NULA 20 is oversized, allowing handloaders to load at a higher ballistic coefficient. Its bottom metal is Hard-Anodized for corrosion resistance.
