Looking to get 200-yard accuracy out of your slug gun? Federal Premium’s new Freight Train Copper Sabot Slugs can pull it off while providing the downrange energy and terminal performance to drop game in its tracks.

New for 2025, the streamlined copper slug and the high-quality sabot and wad found in Federal’s new Freight Train Copper Sabot Slug are touted to deliver smaller than 4-inch groups at 200 yards with a rifled slug barrel.

Built with a polymer tip with an aerodynamic nose profile, Freight Train is not only accurate, it sports a higher BC which means it will maintain its downrange energy and velocity—1,400 foot-pounds and 1450 feet per second at 125 yards to be exact. With a polymer tip to initiate rapid expansion, along with its skived nose cavity, hunters can expect devastating expansion and all-copper weight retention from Federal Premium Freight Train. The external skiving and hollow-point’s wall thickness and depth have been optimized to provide a tight upset of the pedals upon contact for incredible penetration, meaning even the biggest bears are on the menu with this load.

Seated in a newly designed, high-quality sabot and wad, shooters can expect consistency in every shot, in any temperature and weather condition.

Federal’s Freight Train Copper Sabot Slugs are available in 12-gauge, 2 3/4-inch shell with a 300-grain slug; a 12-gauge, 3-inch shell with a 300-grain slug; a 20-gauge, 2 ¾-inch shell with a 275-grain slug; and a 20-gauge, 3-inch shell with a 275-grain all-copper slug. Muzzle velocities range from 1700 feet per second to 2000 feet per second.

Prices for this new load range from $22.99 to $25.99 for a package of five.

Designed for use in rifled slug guns, this new load is sure to fill the freezer this fall.
