undefinedThough the massive crowds from the weekend have died down considerably (a good thing for those thinking of making the trip this week), there are still some lines worth waiting in. I’m of course talking about the opportunity to shake hands with some of the industry's biggest stars, like the Bone Collector himself, Michael Waddell, and Friends of NRA TV hosts Matt and Jessie Duff.

In fact, many of the big names will be conducting seminars on a variety of hunting topics throughout the week. How about “Canada Goose Hunting: Setup, Calling, and Strategies for Success,” taught by none other than Sean Mann. Perhaps you’d rather listen to Hank Parker talk hunting and fishing with the crowds filling up the big arena, or join Ralph and Vicki Cianciarulo, the unofficial “First Couple” of hunting TV, talking tactics for success in hunting—and marriage.

Whether you take the time to scour the list of celebrity appearances and make a plan of attack, or you prefer to simply wander the halls, make sure to keep your eyes peeled for the big names (a long line is a dead giveaway) and stop in for a photo and handshake. And while there’s no stopping you from becoming starstruck, know that these guys aren’t Hollywood, they're simply hunters. As such, they are more than happy to take a moment and talk hunting with the likes of you and me.

Member's Hunt: Patience is Tough When You Shoot a Big Buck

My phone still in my hands, I texted my teenage son, who was hunting along the field not far away. Trying not to move any part of my body but my thumbs, I sent the message, “Got a buck down, but he’s still alive. Help!” Tucker texted back, “What do you want me to do?” I replied: “Come kill the bastard before he kills me!” Intrigued? Read on.

Behind the Bullet: The .308 Norma Magnum

Norma’s ballistician Nils Kvale saw the wisdom of having the velocity and horsepower of the .300 H&H Magnum, but in a shorter, more affordable receiver, and used the H&H case to develop his .358 Norma Magnum in 1959 as well as the .308 Norma Magnum one year later. The .308 Norma Magnum closely resembles the wildcat .30-338 cartridge, though the shoulder of the former is located a bit more toward the base than that of the .308 Norma Magnum. Intrigued? Read on about this often unfairly overlooked hunting classic.
