I'm admittedly a few days late to the party on this one, but the holiday season will do that to you. According to a report from NBC affiliate KETK, a deer recently attacked two men—and then added a little insult to injury by swiping their cigarettes.

According to the report, Joseph Rose and Cole Kellis were leaving their home on the morning of Friday, Nov. 16 when they noticed a deer in the front yard. Rose made the mistake of trying to approach the buck, which allegedly turned and charged the pair.

Both men made a break for Rose's truck, with the whitetail in hot pursuit. It collided with Rose while he was trying to get in the driver-side door, so he abandoned his efforts and climbed into the truck bed instead.

While he was hiding, Rose told KETK, the deer poked its head through the still open door, took a pack of his cigarettes and started to eat them. Not wanting to lose his smokes, Rose tried to retrieve them from the agitated animal, which only made the buck more aggressive.

Finally admitting defeat, the pair called the authorities. Rose told KETK that it ultimately took more than five men to restrain the buck, and multiple minor injuries were sustained. You can check out video coverage of the story right here.

I've got to think that it's unlikely that Rose or Kellis will be approaching more wild animals anytime soon. I just wish the report had listed the deer's choice brand of cigarettes. Do whitetails prefer menthol?
