Mainshield Series Fused Cotton Pant

Blocker Outdoors has released a new, versatile pant, as at home in the field as it is around the farm or about town. The Shield Series Fused Cotton Pant, colored in Alder, is crafted from a lightweight-yet-durable ripstop fabric. This ripstop promises to even limit the damage caused by barbed wire, which this hunter can appreciate, having just split his favorite field pants wide open on a fence. Despite this, the pants are designed to conform to movement, rather than stiffly constricting it, making them easier to hike in than many pants designed around rugged durability.

Beyond the pants’ fit, key features take center stage. You’ll first appreciate the six-pocket design, including front reach-in pockets, back pockets and a pair of cargo pockets. The buttoned waist boasts both beltloops and adjustable cinches on the side. The adjusters help accommodate tucked in shirts, as well as those seemingly inevitable weight fluctuations that happen throughout hunting season. At the ankles, a drawcord allows for a custom, tapered fit. Ankle adjusters also allow for tucking inside boots or waders. Finally, as with most Blocker Outdoors garments, the Shield Series Fused Cotton Pant features S3 silver antimicrobial technology for odor protection and scent control. This is an exceptionally useful feature for backcountry hunters, who may have to wear these pants for days on end, but can also be a boon for turkey hunters. Few environments get pants as smelly as a late-season, turkey run-and-gun, particularly in the southeast. And if hunters are worried Alder doesn't blend quite well enough to fool a wily Tom, the pants also come in Mossy Oak Bottomland, New Bottomland, Country DNA, and Realtree Edge or Excape, for camouflage aficionados.

Range Review: Winchester Supreme Long Range Ammo

Winchester's latest ammunition line is the Supreme Long Range centerfire rifle ammo, and that line is built around its BC Max projectile. Using a thick, drawn copper jacket, steep boattail at the rear and a relatively oversized polymer tip, the BC Max bullet is built for resisting wind deflection and retaining energy downrange.
