When it comes to a short hunt—you know the ones I am talking about: the pre-work hour in a treestand, the quick sit in the turkey field before you have to take little Jonny to his baseball game, the occasional chance your boss lets you out early—you need mobile gear. For me, that means light, small and minimal. The new Gamegetter pack from Easton Outfitters provides all that and more.

First, the pack is small, sporting a 1700-cubic-inch capacity. But trust me, that’s plenty big for an afternoon outing. Like most packs made today, it is hydration bladder compatible, and though I find a small water bottle to be sufficient on most of my shorter trips, it’s nice to know I can carry a full 3-liter bladder in case I get really thirsty.

Plenty of pockets inside and out make it easy to store smaller items, and the included removable light comes in handy during pre-dawn and nighttime conditions. One of the best features of the Gamegetter--one you mainly only see in serious backpacking packs, but really should be built into every hunting pack--is a convenient rain cover that can be tucked away when not in use. I’ve been there, and nothing is worse than a pack full of soaking wet gear. The Gamegetter from Easton Outfitters may be a smaller pack, but it's big on features.
