Federal 250 LEDE

The United States of America celebrates her 250th birthday in 2026, and Federal has come out with some commemorative ammunition for the party. Included in the mix are the American Eagle, Top Gun, and Champion ammunition lines, with choices which represent some of America’s finest cartridges. Each ammunition box has a celebratory graphic—either the Statue of Liberty or an image of Revolutionary War soldiers—and will certainly be a collectable item. I’m old enough to (barely) remember the fervor over the Bicentennial in 1976, and I can see that the good folks at Federal are equally excited over our 250th celebration. There are five ammunition choices in the 250th Anniversary line, covering the realm of rimfire, handgun, shotshells, and centerfire ammunition.

The .22 LR load is the Champion 36-grain copper-plated hollowpoint, traveling at 1,260 fps, and is equally applicable for target work as well as for small game. Federal has—probably intentionally—boxed this load in 250-count boxes. There is a .45 Auto load from the American Eagle line, and sees a 230-grain full metal jacket bullet at 890 fps, packaged in 50-count boxes. There is a pair of American Eagle rifle cartridges included in the anniversary line: a .30-06 Springfield load for the M1 Garand featuring a 150-grain full metal jacket projectile, and a .45-70 Government load using a 300-grain jacketed soft point. And to round out the lineup, Federal’s Top Gun shotshell line—offering a 12-gauge 2 ¾-inch shell with 1 ⅛ ounce of No. 8 shot, perfect for busting clays as well as for smaller upland game.

America’s 250th anniversary is only going to come around once, and I’m sure a good many shooters and hunters are going to want to stash a few boxes of each of these away in the safe, even if just for their grandchildren. God bless America, and thank you Federal for celebrating the 250th! For more information visit federalpremium.com.
