Long Action Model 2020 Waypoint

Springfield Armory has announced the addition of Model 2020 long-action rifles to the Waypoint family. Manufactured in the United States, Springfield builds every 2020 Waypoint to deliver the accuracy and performance expected from a custom-grade rifle. Delivering an impressive .75 MOA accuracy guarantee, even more impressive considering average long-action accuracy, the rifles are available in chamberings including 7mm Remington Magnum, 7mm PRC, .300 Winchester Magnum, 300 PRC, .270 Winchester and .30-06 Springfield, feeding from AICS pattern box magazines.

The heart of these rifles is the custom-grade Model 2020 action, designed to take advantage of advanced manufacturing methods to hold incredibly tight tolerances. The Cerakote-finished action features an integral recoil lug and is machined from pre-hardened stainless steel with EDM-cut raceways. The fluted bolt can be disassembled without tools for incredibly easy maintenance in the field, and employs dual cocking cams.

Adjustable Model 2020 Waypoint stock

Designed for demanding hunters, the Model 2020 Waypoint family strikes a balance between light weight and rugged durability. This is achieved through the use of a premium, hand-painted, 100-percent carbon-fiber stock by AG Composites that is hand-laid and pillar-bedded for precision and repeatability. Available in both adjustable and standard configurations, the stock features QD mounts for versatile carry options, M-Lok slots for mounting bipods and accessories, and is hand-painted in either Ridgeline or Evergreen camo.

Carbon Fiber Barrel cutaway

These long-action rifles are available with a free-floated carbon fiber-sleeved barrel. This barrel boasts subsurface fluting that reduces weight and provides cooling channels to promote cold-bore to warm-bore repeatability, further enhancing the Waypoint’s packable weight while simultaneously improving barrel performance. In addition, the rifles are also offered with a traditional fluted stainless steel barrel. A TriggerTech “Field” trigger, adjustable from 2.5-5  pounds, provides a crisp and clean break.

“The release of the Model 2020 Waypoint marked a new era for modern bolt-action rifles from Springfield Armory,” said Steve Kramer, vice president of marketing for Springfield Armory. “Building on this tradition are these new long-action variants, bringing new levels of performance and power to hunters and shooters.”
