Here's a look at some of the most innovative new outerwear for 2021-2022 hunting seasons.

Kryptek Sonora Hooded Shirt and Sonora Pant

1. Kryptek Sonora Hooded Shirt and Sonora Pant
Be it chasing teal in the Southeast, arrowing a big velvet buck in Kentucky or staking your spot amongst a Texas dove field, there’s no escaping the heat when it comes to some hunting locales. Made for hot-weather hunts, Kryptek’s lightweight Sonora Hooded Shirt and Sonora Pant offer concealment, sun protection and the ability to help keep you cool and dry. The Hooded Shirt is made from a stretchable, breathable, moisture-wicking fabric with a 50 UPF rating. It sports a comfortable, three-button closure, attached hood and a zippered chest pocket. The Sonora Pant, constructed with an ultra-breathable and quick-drying mesh fabric, is about the lightest hunting pant we’ve ever seen. It sports six pockets, articulated knees, a gusseted crotch and a water-repellant finish. And while a pair will provide some basic protection, you wouldn’t be happy busting through a briar thicket in them. MSRP: $89.99 shirt, $109.99 pant; kryptek.com.

Kuiu Axis Hybrid Jacket and Pant

2. Kuiu Axis Hybrid Jacket and Pant

Designed for hunters who aren’t afraid to count miles underfoot in their search for opportunity, the soft-shell Axis Hybrid Jacket and Pant combine to create a breathable, all-weather outer layer that insulates from the cold and keeps water at bay. This system starts with a durable, high-stretch, wind-resistant and breathable, fleece-lined Primeflex fabric, supplemented with taped seams and tough, waterproof panels on the hood, arms and shoulders of the jacket, and the lower legs and seat of the pant. The jacket features a fully adjustable hood with visor, underarm vents and zippered exterior pockets strategically placed to allow for access while wearing a pack. On the pants, you'll find articulated and reinforced knees, zippered hip vents, seven zippered exterior pockets and an interior cellphone pocket. Available in solid colors, as well as Vias, Verde and new Valo (shown) camo patterns. MSRP: $279 jacket, $229 pant; kuiu.com.

Browning Hydro-Fleece Jacket and Bib

3. Browning Hydro-Fleece Jacket and Bib

Featuring a soft and water-resistant brushed-fleece exterior, the new Hydro-Fleece collection from Browning is a lightweight outer layer that will keep you warm during cool, early-season mornings in the treestand and dry through wet weather brought on by mid-season cold fronts—and it'll be quiet the whole time. The Hydro-Fleece jacket includes an adjustable hood and two zippered hand-warmer pockets. The bib features a reinforced crotch gusset, full-length side-zippers, two zippered hip pockets for hand warmers, a large zippered chest pocket and adjustable shoulder straps. Both the jacket and bib boast triple-layer taped seams for further weatherproof protection. Available in solid Olive (shown), Mossy Oak Bottomland and Realtree Edge camo. MSRP: $129.99 bib, $129.99 jacket; browning.com.

Behind the Bullet: The .308 Norma Magnum

Norma’s ballistician Nils Kvale saw the wisdom of having the velocity and horsepower of the .300 H&H Magnum, but in a shorter, more affordable receiver, and used the H&H case to develop his .358 Norma Magnum in 1959 as well as the .308 Norma Magnum one year later. The .308 Norma Magnum closely resembles the wildcat .30-338 cartridge, though the shoulder of the former is located a bit more toward the base than that of the .308 Norma Magnum. Intrigued?
