Finding the right shotgun fit means everything, but it's exceptionally difficult if you're sporting a smaller frame than what your scattergun was designed for. The average female shooter is smaller in stature than their male counterparts, companies have been recognizing and adjusting for that in recent years. Franchi is joining in the party in 2016 with the introduction of its Catalyst line of shotguns.

The Catalyst name and design will be introduce in two of Franchi's existing platforms: the Affinity and the Instinct.

The Affinity Catalyst will be the industry's most affordable inertia-driven semi-automatic shotgun made specifically for women. The 12-gauge shotgun's 3-inch chamber allows for reliable cycling of 2 3/4-inch field loads all the way up to heavy, 3-inch magnum loads for waterfowl and turkey.

Franchi's Instinct Catalyst, meanwhile, is set to provide female shooters with an over/under. Like its sister model, the Instinct Catalyst is designed to align instinctively to a woman's body. It features a A-Grade satin walnut stock, automatic ejectors and all-steel construction.

Alligator Hunting Opportunities Are Expanding

This year, both Florida and Louisiana are expanding or introducing new opportunities for alligator hunts. For decades, Florida has estimated that there are over one million in the state—it is, of course, hard to count alligators. Louisiana now says its alligator population exceeds three million. The two states have managed their alligator populations very differently over the last half century, but now both are expanding hunting opportunities to help manage alligator populations.
