As you'll find when you open your August edition of American Hunter magazine a little bit later this month, bear attacks have been on the rise throughout North America. Appropriately, I had half a dozen bear-related stories—all from within the last 48 hours, including an attack on a National Guard soldier in Alaska—that I could have chosen for today's Wilder World Outdoors. I settled on the following story, out of Washington state.

According to a report from a Fox affiliate out of Fall City, Wash., a bear (exact species TBD) tore apart three hen houses and a goat cage on a local farm, before setting its sights on one of the property owners.

Cory Huskinson was investigating the commotion when the bear allegedly turned its attention to him and charged. Cory responded in the sanest way possible, and fled on his 4x4. The bear eventually gave up the chase and retreated into the woods. In its wake it left a dead goat and a handful of dead chickens.

According to the report, Huskinson has since begun coordinating with local wildlife officers, in hopes of trapping the rogue bear.
