Gamo Outdoor USA has announced the launch of its new Whisper Fusion Mach 1 air rifle. The new rifle features Gamo's latest technology, the IGT Mach 1. Replacing the standard spring powerplant with an Inert Gas Cylinder, the IGT Mach 1's 33-millimeter cylinder is designed to deliver more velocity and terminal penetration than ever before.

The Whisper Fusion Mach 1 features the Whisper Fusion technology that Gamo developed a few years ago. It keeps the air rifle quiet using the latest noise dampening technology. Noise is reduced up to 89.5 percent. The rifle also features the company's CAT (Custom Action Trigger) and SWA (Shock Wave Absorber) recoil pad.

Behind the Bullet: The .308 Norma Magnum

Norma’s ballistician Nils Kvale saw the wisdom of having the velocity and horsepower of the .300 H&H Magnum, but in a shorter, more affordable receiver, and used the H&H case to develop his .358 Norma Magnum in 1959 as well as the .308 Norma Magnum one year later. The .308 Norma Magnum closely resembles the wildcat .30-338 cartridge, though the shoulder of the former is located a bit more toward the base than that of the .308 Norma Magnum. Intrigued?
