It looks increasingly likely that my dream of owning one of Annie Oakley's shotguns will never come to pass. A Parker Brothers 16-gauge once owned by Oakley sold at auction in Dallas, Texas, on Sunday, Nov. 24 for the huge sum of $293,000. The lovely open-hammer, Damascus-barreled side-by-side was purchased through Heritage Auctions by an anonymous buyer.

A gold charm bracelet once owned by Oakley was auctioned separately for $250,000.

Interestingly another Parker shotgun owned by Oakley—a color-casehardened sidelock used during a hunting trip to England—was auctioned in June 2012 for $143,400.
