A possible new archery world record desert bighorn sheep was taken recently in—of all places—southern California. On December 20, 2011, Brett Scott arrowed a ram that green scores 180 7/8 inches on the Pope and Young measurement system. The horns measure 35 1/2 and 37 inches in length with 16 1/2-inch bases. If, after the 60-day mandatory drying period, the horn shrinkage is less than an inch, Scott’s ram will be a new world record for archery desert bighorn.

An enormous 40-point muley taken in Saskatchewan in 2018 was confirmed as the new world record by the Pope and Young Club with an official score of 291-⅛ inches.

Chris Cammack’s Alaskan brown bear was confirmed as the new Pope and Young Club World Record with an official score of 29-4/16 inches.

A 23-point buck that could be a new Florida state record was poached last October. The buck was initially measured by a Boone and Crockett Club official and grossed a green-score of 207 inches, putting it in the class of the current state record.

A special Pope and Young Club judges panel has declared a Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep taken in South Dakota in 2018 as the new world record with a final score of 209⅛ inches, surpassing the previous world-record ram by nearly 10 inches.

14-year-old Hannah Helmer may be joining the record books. Last month, Helmer killed an elk that could soon be named the all-time Nebraska state record.

With a 202-yard shot on a 400-pound cow elk, 8-year-old Braeleigh Miller officially became the youngest hunter in Michigan history to kill an elk.

A strong sheep population and record demand have combined to create an increased number of hunting licenses in North Dakota this year.

Minnesota hunter Lacey Lupien has officially broken a state record, taking the second-largest bull elk ever shot in the state.
