Designed in collaboration with Team Ruger Captain Doug Koenig, the Ruger Custom Shop Precision Rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor builds upon the Ruger Precision Rifle to deliver a factory-built firearm specifically designed for longer ranges.

Hornady's Precision Hunter line was already due to expand in 2017, with the addition of .270 Winchester, 7mm-08 Remington, .280 Remington, .300 Winchester Short Magnum and .300 Weatherby Magnum. But, thanks to the skyrocketing interest in 6mm Creedmoor, the folks from Grand Island, Neb., are adding it to the line, too.

For 2017, Hornady has decided to expand its Precision Hunter line of ammunition to include five new cartridges.

Registration is now open for the National Rifle Association's Precision Long Range School, with classes available July 2-3, Aug. 13-14, and Sept. 3-4, 2016, at Peacemaker National Training Center in Gerrardstown, West Virginia.

Most modern bullets use polymer tips, but polymer melts at 320-345 degrees Fahrenheit, while bullets can reach temperatures greater than 800 degrees during flight. To counter this, Hornady created the ELD-X hunting bullet with its Heat Shield Tip, which sports a melting point above 700 degrees and degrades far less, making for a more accurate bullet with a higher ballistic coefficient. The company then loaded it in its Hornady Precision Hunter ammo line.

The future of long-range hunting just arrived: the Modern Precision Rifle (MPR) from Christensen Arms of Gunnison, Utah. Lightweight and accurate, the bolt action MPR performs like a rifle you'd find on the Precision Rifle Shooting circuit, but with features the long-range hunter will appreciate and use in the field.
