With demand for both ammunition and reloading components peaking due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the Hodgdon Powder Company, Inc. (Hodgdon) was designated an essential business, and is doing its part to ensure products are available to consumers while protecting its employees, distributors and customers.

In a letter posted on Hodgdon’s social media from Steve Kehrwald, president and CEO of the Hodgdon Powder Company, Kehrwald explained Hodgdon is following federal and state health agency guidelines and recommendations to keep those who handle its products safe.

“We continue to operate our facilities in both Kansas and Louisiana, while instituting additional measures such as social distancing, additional cleaning, sanitizing and working remotely as much as possible,” said Kehrwald in the letter. “These measures are allowing us to keep operating while minimizing the risk to our communities.”

Kehrwald acknowledged a “short-term demand” impacting the company’s ability to supply certain products, but assures customers Hodgdon is doing its best to meet the sudden increase in demand. Kehrwald also thanked customers for their patience while waiting on product to be delivered, and for their support of all of Hodgdon’s products, which include IMR and Winchester powders, as well as Pyrodex, Triple Seven, and GOEX brands.
